Tahoe Forest Health System Wins Silver Quality Award From California Awards For Perfomance Excellence (CAPE)

California Awards from Performance Excellence

Tahoe Forest Health System was named a silver award recipient by the California Council for Excellence (CCE) which administers the California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE). Tahoe Forest Health System is one of only six hospitals in California honored by CAPE in 2006 for its quality initiatives.

The award program, which emulates the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program, recognizes organizations that demonstrate continuous improvement and superior performance in seven key business areas including leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, measurement/knowledge management, human resources, process management and business results.

Denise Shields, Chair of the CAPE Award stated "The Baldrige Award at both the state and national level have the same criteria.  The criteria is rigorous and organizations that apply are putting themselves through the most respected and demanding filter in the country. To win this award on any level is worthy of tremendous respect."

Tahoe Forest Health System was honored with a Silver-level Eureka Award for Performance Excellence, which is the top level award offered by the California Council for Excellence. Five other hospitals in California were recognized, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills.

Three years ago Tahoe Forest Health System created a new mission with its 630+ employees "To be the best mountain community health system in the nation."   The Baldrige performance excellence criteria is based on a set of core processes that some of the best companies in the nation practice, include Ritz Carlton Hotel Company, The Boeing Company, 3M, Xerox, Merrill Lynch and Motorola Company.

Founded in 1949 by its residents, Tahoe Forest Health System serves six counties in two states encompassing 3500 square miles. Tahoe Forest Hospital is located at 10121 Pine Avenue in Truckee, California.
