Volunteering and Auxiliary

Volunteering can be very rewarding, especially at Tahoe Forest Hospital System.

Tahoe Forest Hospital System depends on loyal volunteers of the Auxiliaries and Hospice.

The Auxiliary programs at Tahoe Forest Hospital and Incline Village Community Hospital are to provide non-medical volunteer services to our patients, families and hospital staff. They provide service to the health system and to the community. Each year Auxilians raise money for hospital wish lists through a variety of fundraisers. The Auxiliaries also support hospital projects with proceeds from the on-site Gift Shops.

Tahoe Forest Hospice serves Truckee, Incline Village, North and West Shores of Tahoe, Floriston, Verdi, Calpine, Graeagle, Portola, Sierraville, Loyalton, Soda Springs and Emigrant Gap. Hospice relies heavily on volunteers, to work directly with patients and families, for administrative and office support, to help at there thrift store locations in Truckee and Kings Beach, for Friends of Hospice fundraising, and to volunteer in many other ways.

Pet Assisted Therapy

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe's (HSTT) Pet Assisted Therapy (PAT) program involves certified HSTT volunteers and their companion animals visiting at the Tahoe Forest Hospital's Extended Care Center and med/surg (inpatient) department, and other various Tahoe Forest Hospital programs including hospice, in-home health care and the Children's Center. HSTT volunteers and their pets touch the lives of many people (residents, patients, family, and staff) during their visits.

Volunteers and their pets must complete a variety of "testing" in order to be certified to participate in this program. Once certified, volunteers must commit to visiting a minimum of two times per month in one or more of TFH's programs . If you think you might be interested in volunteering for this program, please contact our office at (530)587-5948.
