Foundation Leadership to Benefit the Hospital's Future

Under the leadership of Board President, Caesar Naples, the IVCH Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of area leaders who are committed to providing the best health care to this rural community. The Foundation's goal is to increase community awareness, develop relationships and financial resources needed to continue providing excellent health care to this community.

Maintaining Incline Village Community Hospital's local independence and excellence in health care is an on-going endeavor. In support of these efforts, current hospital projects include:

Caesar J. Naples, President

Is Vice Chancellor Emeritus and Trustee Professor Emeritus of the California State University. He served as Vice Chancellor for Faculty and Staff Relations for ten years following which he practiced law in New York, Florida and California and represented a large number of public and private universities here and in the United Kingdom. Among these were the Nevada State University System and the state universities of New York, Florida and Alaska. He served as Chair of the Heart and Pulmonary Institute of the Long Beach Memorial Hospital and a member of its Foundation Board for twenty years. He served on the staff of former New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller and within the New York State Senate. He is a graduate of Yale University and the State University of New at Buffalo.

Gary Finch

Gary was born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand. After extensive travel and an early career as a surfer, Gary moved to the United States. He spent 28 years in the medical products design, manufacturing and distribution business, 20 of which as President and CEO of Sentry Medical Products, a company of 150 people with manufacturing operations in Irvine, CA and Lombard IL. The primary product areas were skin surface electrodes and products for neonatal intensive care and were sold across the US and in over 40 countries.

Gary is active as a volunteer Ski Patroller at Diamond Peak and a Rotarian in Incline Village. Other interests include gardening, bike riding, kayaking, golf, travel, and sailing.

Robert Kennedy

Robert Kennedy is a graduate of the University of Southern California and has been a sales and marketing executive with healthcare IT companies for over 20 years. An expert in electronic health records and clinician access, his experiences range from start-up ventures to senior management roles at companies like McKesson, Vignette and Quest Diagnostics.

Robert moved to Incline Village full time in 1995 and has been active in the community since. He also serves on the board of the Incline Academic Excellence Foundation and the North Tahoe Little League and is involved in numerous other area organizations, especially those centered around health, athletics and education. He is married and has two daughters attending school here in Incline.

Margo Lalchandani

Margo is a community volunteer for education, health and animal welfare, Margo Lalchandani did her education at Alma College, University of Colorado, and Stanford. Margo is a retired educator. She has taught at the middle school through college years, including setting up an elementary school in Mexico City.

Jeffrey A. Quinn, CPA

Jeffrey started his professional career in the San Francisco office of PriceWaterhouseCoopers (formerly Price Waterhouse) in 1970, upon graduation from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. After almost ten years of practice in the large firm environment, he relocated to Incline Village, where he has practiced ever since. He is a Certified Public Accountant in both Nevada and California, and also holds a Masters of Science in Taxation degree from Golden Gate University, in San Francisco.

Jeff's professional affiliations include memberships in the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has served as President of the Incline Village/Crystal Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Incline Village Rotary Club, and is an Emeritus Trustee of Sierra Nevada College. In 1986, the Chamber of Commerce named him the Incline Village "Citizen of the Year".

Jeff's primary avocation is golf, and he holds memberships in the Montreux Country Club and the Incline Village Golf Club. Following the San Francisco 49ers, attending "traditional" jazz festivals, and playing the banjo are also favorite hobbies.

Mary Ansari

From 1969 - 1995, Mary Ansari held a variety of administrative positions at the University of Nevada, Reno Library. She retired in 1995 as Emerita Director of Administrative Services & Branch Libraries. Since her retirement, she has published books on Nevada county place names, served on several public boards and served as trustee and secretary-treasurer of the Nazir and Mary Ansari Foundation. In 2000, she received a Doctorate of Humane Letters from the University of Nevada, Reno. She and her husband, Nazir, have resided in Reno since 1967 and Incline Village since 1995.

Bob Schapper

Bob is presently the Chief Executive Officer of Tahoe Forest Hospital District, a two-hospital system with facilities located in Truckee and Incline Village Nevada. The healthcare system also operates a home health agency, a hospice program, a rural health clinic, a wellness center and a retail pharmacy. Bob has over 30 years of experience in hospital and healthcare administration. Approximately half of his career has been spent in not-for-profit hospitals/health systems and half in investor owned operations.

Bob has served as a Regional Vice President of Operations for two investor owned hospital corporations, CEO of the former Mt. Sinai Healthcare System in Cleveland, Ohio, and most recently upon his return to California, Bob has served as the CEO of two public hospital Districts. He helped develop the first public hospital District in California in over 25 years for the Palm Drive Health Care District in 1998.

Bob has graduate degrees in both public health and hospital administration and also pursued postgraduate studies in community medicine and health education.

Jonathan Smith, O.D.

Jonathan was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and graduated from Valley High School in Las Vegas in 1983. He attended the University of Nevada Reno and has a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Science. Jonathan received his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1990. After three years of private practice in Las Vegas, he moved to Incline Village in 1993 and has been in private practice here since then.

Jonathan and his wife Amy have been married since 1995 and have two sons, Dylan and Ian. Among the many outdoor activities they are involved in, they probably enjoy skiing and golfing the most. Jonathan has been a member of the Rotary Club of Incline Village since 1994 and served as club president in 1998-99. He coaches both little league and youth soccer. Jonathan has been on the board of the Incline Village Community Hospital Foundation since its inception in January 2005 and also serves as a trustee of the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.

Manuel "Manny" Sylvester

Manny was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated with a BBA from the University of Hawaii. From 1952 to 1954 he served as an Army officer in Korea. Manny joined Baker & Gillette and passed his CPA exams; he became a partner in the firm in 1956. Through a merger, he became a partner in Coopers & Lybrand in 1965 and retired as Managing Partner in Hawaii in 1992.

Manny served on boards and as an officer on many professional and community organizations in Hawaii and nationally including the University of Hawaii Foundation, the Hawaii Community Foundation, and until recently he was a member of the Board of Trustees of Bishop Street Fund, a mutual fund group. He married Margaret Haughey in 1952; they have 3 sons and 2 daughters. Manny was an early investor in Incline Village and has been active in the community for many years.

Andrew Whyman, M.D.

A Stanford trained physician who has practiced medicine in California for the last 35 years. He has taught at UCSF and was the Vice Chair of the Dept. of Psychological and Social Medicine at Cal-Pacific Medical Center in SF. He has written for both professional and lay readers and now writes a weekly column for the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza.

Roger Kahn

Roger moved to Tahoe City with his family in 1960. He received a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley in 1970. Throughout his career Roger has been involved in community service. He served on the Placer County Economic Development board, and was a board member and past president of the following organizations: Tahoe City Public Utility District, North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education , Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation and the North Lake Tahoe Hebrew Congregation. Roger currently serves as a board member of the Tahoe Forest Hospital District.

Alison Pretti

Dr. Alison Pretti, a Board Certified Emergency Medicine physician, has enjoyed an exciting and varied background since achieving her medical degree from University of Illinois. During her residency from 1992 to 1995 at the University of Chicago Hospitals Emergency Medicine Residency , Alison contributed as an instructor, schedule coordinator and administrative chief resident. In addition, she had the exceptional experiences of serving as attending physician for the World Cup Soccer Tournament and spent 2 years as a flight physician for the helicopter and fixed wing air ambulance critical care transport. After completing her residency, Dr. Pretti joined Barton Memorial Hospital as a clinical staff member in the Emergency Department. She now resides in Incline Village where she and her husband, Gene Pretti, are raising their two children.

Bob Maxson

Sierra Nevada College's Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Robert Maxson as president of the college in December 2007. He was named President of the Year four consecutive years by the students from the 23 campuses of the California State University System. The award was named for him permanently after the fourth year. He previously served as President of California State University, Long Beach for twelve years before retiring in 2006. President Maxson earned his doctorate from Mississippi State University in 1970, and he has written two college textbooks which together have been adopted in approximately 100 universities. He is married to Dr. Sylvia Parrish Maxson. Their son, Todd, is a pediatric surgeon in Austin , and their daughter, Kimberly, is a lawyer and lives in Las Vegas .
