Knee Surgery Patient

As often happens when one reaches maturity, I am 61, the joints don't function quite like they did at 21! After increasing pain and instability in my knee my sister-in-law, Pam Stock, who lives in Truckee, California, recommended a consultation with this "great" orthopedic surgeon in Incline Village. I should mention that I live in South Georgia. When my husband had a business function in Lake Tahoe we went to visit Pam and she made an appointment for me to see Dr. Robert Rupp. I was so impressed with his knowledge and reputation that the decision was made for me to have a total knee replacement at Incline Village Community Hospital. My care from admission to discharge was the best I could have asked for anywhere! The physicians were wonderful! Not only Dr. Rupp, but also Dr. Bradley Thomas, my anesthesiologist, and Dr. Craig Rau, my internist. I would LOVE to transplant them to Georgia!

I am an RN and have spent many years in the nursing profession and I can't say enough about the nursing staff at IVCH. They were not only very professional, but also warm and caring, far above the call of duty! Each nurse was very dedicated to doing everything possible to increase my level of comfort. One nurse even brought me homemade turkey soup! It was wonderful!

I returned home to Dixie after three weeks and was back to ballroom dancing after only a few months! My surgery was a very good decision and I am very pleased with the outcome. Should I ever need a new joint in my other knee I will, without hesitation, return to IVCH!

My heartfelt thanks to everyone involved!

Multi Services Patient

I can't say enough wonderful things about Incline Village Community Hospital. In 1980 my husband fell down our icy stairway and ended up in the emergency room. We were so lucky to have a local emergency room so close BY. In 1995 I woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating stomach pain. My husband rushed me to Incline Hospital and the emergency crew diagnosed me with an appendicitis. I had outstanding care from wonderful nurses, such as Ginny Murnane, RNFA and expert physicians. Many of whom I have made life long friendships with.

I joined the hospital auxiliary and served on the board for many years, picking scholarship winners from the local high school, working many fundraisers, and many hours in the gift shop. In 2004 we sold our home in Incline and moved to Gardnerville, to be at a lower elevation. However, our doctors and other health care providers are still in Incline and we return to the Incline Village Community Hospital for all of our laboratory work, testing and medical appointments.

As long as we remain healthy, we prefer to be where we feel confident that we will receive the best medical care possible. I get excited every time the Hospital gets a new piece of equipment. Incline Hospital has their own, CT Scanner, along with mammography and x-ray machines. It is so nice, not to have to go to Reno.
