Community Health Education
The Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance offers a number of special wellness programs throughout the year in conjunction with the Tahoe Forest Health System. These events give us the opportunity to provide the community with in depth information in the form of lectures, health screenings, clinics and health fairs. Presentations are offered on our growing technology in the Diagnostic Imaging Department as well as specialty services such as our new Cancer Center. Our local physicians and health professionals team up to provide you with the latest research in their specialty areas helping you become a more well informed health consumer.

Nutrition Coalition
Led by the Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance, this coalition has combined the efforts of our local Social Service Agencies, School District, physicians, business leaders and parents. Our mission is to implement education and programs that promote nutrition and physical activity for the children and parents of our community through a collaborative effort of people and resources. This past year we received funding from the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation's Queen of Hearts, the Excellence in Education Foundation and the Alpine Winter Foundation.

Body Boot Camp
Our 8 week Body Boot Camp is focused on energizing your exercise routine and modifying your diet so you will see noticeable changes to your body! This program includes baseline and follow-up body assessment, consultation with a registered dietitian and an exercise physiologist, weekly weigh-in, exercise and diet tips, exercise journal with weekly program, work-outs twice weekly with several class times to choose from.

Heart Health
The Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance combines its programs and services with Tahoe Forest Hospital programs to help you manage your heart health risk factors. We can provide you with assessment, education and encouragement. From individual nutrition and exercise assessment to group weight loss and exercise classes, there is something for everyone's needs and schedule.
Reh-Fit
Time to regain your fitness level and improve you overall health? Whether you have risk factors for heart disease or have just let your fitness routine go for a little too long- our Reh-fit class will get you get back to a fitness level that will help you enjoy life to its fullest. Led by Masters trained Exercise Physiologists who have experience dealing with individuals with medical complications and challenges. A complete intake process provides for communication with your physician so you are exercising safely.

Calcium Scoring
This quick and painless CT scan will measure presence of calcified plaque in the arteries. The results of this test can be combined with other information such as your cholesterol profile and family history to help you And your physician understand your risk of heart disease.

Diabetes Education

Whether an individual has just been diagnosed with diabetes, or has been living with diabetes for years, learning to better self-manage their condition is key to living a healthy life. Self-Management Education is an essential component of diabetes treatment. Patients receive individual or group education from Certified Diabetes Educators and their team of multi- disciplinary instructors. Individualized oversight every 3 months for 1 year and annually thereafter is also included. Physician referral is required.
Class includes two four hour group sessions, individualized oversight, and follow-up at 3 months and 12 months.

Whether your goal is to lose weight, manage your cholesterol and blood pressure, navigate through menopause, or prevent other chronic disease, our professional registered dietitians will help you design a nutritional program to meet your needs. Counseling with a registered dietitian can help you reach and maintain your peak health, decrease doctor visits and hospitalizations and reduce prescription drug costs.

Insurance And Billing
Many private health plans cover Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for diagnoses such as diabetes, heart and kidney disease and obesity. Please contact your insurer if you have questions about your coverage. Payment is expected at the time of service.

General Fitness Assessment
The exercise assessment is simple and achievable for everyone. Our exercise physiology staff will assess your cardiovascular fitness through a treadmill or bike test. We will also measure upper and lower body strength, flexibility, body composition and wellness profile to gain a more complete understanding of your fitness status.
You will receive an interpretation that includes age- related normative values to help you understand how you are doing and where you may need to improve. We will develop an exercise prescription for you using specific training heart rate zones and appropriate exercises so you can maximize your work-outs, and stay fitter longer.

Everyone has a unique metabolic rate. We all differ depending on our age, height, weight, body composition and genetic predisposition. By measuring the amount of oxygen you consume at rest we can predict how many calories you are burning in a day and how that relates to your daily caloric intake. The key to weight loss is to understand how many calories you need each day for daily activities and for exercise.

Personal Training
Do you ever find yourself wandering around a fitness facility - not sure of what to do next? Do you think you've reached a slump in your program? Let our personal trainers provide you with the guidance you need. Our personal trainers are expert in assessing your individual needs and health considerations. Together you will design a program that is "motivating, safe and enjoyable". Our experts will make sure that you are exercising effectively and appropriately to meet your fitness goals.

Pilates
Pilates Mat - Alignment is the key to success! Pilates consists of developing core strength and flexibility which allows for achievements in muscular balance, core strength and flexibility. Mat classes are offered as a membership benefit or are accessible on a drop-in basis.
Pilates Reformers - Reformers are a tremendously versatile apparatus supporting a full range of abdominal, back, leg, shoulder, and arm exercises. They provide strengthening, lengthening and balance to your wellness routine.
Pilates Small Group Classes - with 3-4 reformers this is an affordable way to get an incredible workout!
Pilates Reformer Personal Training - provides dedicated attention to the specific needs and goals of the client. Pilates Personal Training is ideal for individuals with chronic problems to athletes seeking to fine tune their level of performance.
The North American Ski Training Center
The Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance has partnered with The North American Ski Training Center - a high level total immersion alpine ski school based in our building and offering 28 camps at 18 resorts around the world - to bring you the best dryland ski conditioning and on-snow clinics available. NASTC is the way to true skiing improvement, whether you are 7 or 70, intermediate or expert! Whatever your skiing level, the NASTC/ TCHSP programs will help you be in your optimum skiing shape. Come maximize your skiing through specialized ski movement drills combined with on-hill practice. Certain engrained movement patterns can be limiting your potential for improvement and mastery, come see!

Sports Performance Services
V02 Maximum Test
Our exercise physiology staff will assess your cardiovascular fitness through a V02 Maximum Test conducted on either a treadmill or bike (stationary Monarch or bring your own bike). V02 Maximum refers to the amount of oxygen the body is able to consume at maximum exercise in- tensity. The greater the amount of oxygen consumed by the body, the more work (exercise) the body is capable of doing. During the test we measure your V02 Max as well as anaerobic threshold. This information will help you understand your current aerobic fitness level, identify target heart rate zones and help you exercise more effectively.

Functional Movement Screen
The functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a screening process made up of seven tests that look at fundamental movements. The FMS is a way to demonstrate how athletes who have elite strength, power, speed, agility and sport skills may have fundamental flaws. Coaching Programs
Our coach's are USA Triathlon certified Level 1 with expertise to assist you in accomplishing your performance goals in sports such as triathlon, running, cycling and swimming. Our coaches will simplify the process of training by designing an individualized training plan for you as well as fit it into your hectic daily schedule to help you maximize your training time. There are various levels of programs, catering from the beginner to the elite athlete, from a triathlon to a marathon.
Coaching programs may include some or all of the following:
- Fitness assessment to determine VO2, anaerobic threshold, heart rate zones, power and body fat
- Training program designed according to results of fitness assessment, goals, and length of desired program
- Contact with coach via email, phone, one on one Skill analysis
Tahoe Forest Physical Therapy
Maintaining an active, independent lifestyle is a vital part of living in or visiting the North Lake Tahoe area. The staff at Tahoe Forest Physical Therapy, located in the Center for Health and Sports Performance offers physical, occupational and hand therapy.
Our staff members are experts at analyzing movement and function to treat you effectively and efficiently. We offer a hands-on approach in developing an individualized treatment plan that will get you back to your favorite sport, back on the job, or return quickly to an independent life.
Our Warm Water Therapy Pool provides a weightless environment to speed recovery, offer relief from stress or chronic pain such as arthritis, or relax and enjoy Watsu - an oriental pressure-point therapy.
Pre-Surgery Care - Let the therapists of TFPT develop a specific program of strengthening prior to surgery. Improving your physical condition prior to surgery has been tied to improved medical outcomes. We offer Pre Care Fitness Center memberships on a weekly and monthly basis.
Post Rehab Care - At the Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance the time of discharge from therapy offers options to continue a rehab program through a Medical Fitness Center membership. This service is an important way for patients to continue with their rehabilitation.

Watsu
An ancient form of Japanese Massage called Zen Shiatsu, adapted to the comfort and support of warm water, this aquatic therapy utilizes passive movement with gentle stretching to facilitate deep relaxation and promote wellness. The soothing warm water is an ideal medium for freeing the body of unwanted stress and tension in a safe and nurturing environment.

Prenatal Program
5-Week Prenatal Series And 1-Day Prenatal Session
This program is designed to teach the Lamaze-based childbirth preparation. Content: To provide parents-to-be with information on pregnancy, labor and delivery, breastfeeding, car seat safety and newborn information including presentations by a Pediatrician. Infant and child CPR, and home safety course is included in all programs. Participants must call to register for class.

Private Classes Are Available - Call For Details
If your group or business would like a private class we can put one together just for you! Choose between Adult/Child/Infant/CPR, Basic First Aid/Use of an AED (automated external defibrillator) or choose all the options. Come to our facility or we'll come to your worksite.

This CPR course fits the needs of most businesses and lay rescuers. This class covers how to handle sudden cardiac arrest in adults, certifying participants in Adult CPR and the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), and adult choking victims.
Healthcare Provider CPR (New And Renewal Course)
This course is the Healthcare Providers Basic Life Support new and renewal certification for the general public. Content: Meets the American Heart Association requirements for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals. 1 and 2 rescuer CPR, adult and pediatric CPR, and covers foreign body airway obstruction in all ages, barrier devices and use of an AED (automated external defibrillator).

Kids Babysitting CPR And Basic First Aid
