A Note from our President & CEO, Harry Weis

News Worth Celebrating
Harry Weis, CEO of Tahoe Forest Health System

In our region, we’re celebrating warmer weather and also, our system-wide wins. While we continue to make strides for our community in a number of areas, we are highlighting a few particularly exciting accomplishments.

Tahoe Forest Health System (TFHS) is proud to announce that the Incline Village Community Hospital Foundation was awarded a $1.9 million grant by the Helmsley Charitable Trust to support 3D Mammography equipment for Incline Village Community Hospital (IVCH). This grant will cover the cost of the equipment as well as the renovation expenses associated with providing this new service line at IVCH.After the TFHS Diagnostic Imaging department identified that there are approximately 4,400 females between the ages of 40-100 who live in Incline Village, NV, and qualify for mammography screening services but that currently accessing this care requires driving between 25-40 miles … it was time for a change.

This generous gift gives us the opportunity to improve our healthcare delivery while being able detect and treat breast cancer at earlier stages, with the same state-of-the-art technology typically found in urban centers. We are thrilled to expand this specialty service and continue to provide the care you deserve, close to home.

In other news, Becker's Hospital Review recently recognized 113 hospital and health system CIOs in 2023, including our very own Jake Dorst, Chief Information and Innovation Officer of Tahoe Forest Health System. The list features some of the most impressive health IT leaders who drive technology and health IT initiatives for hospitals and health systems across the country.

And Mr. Dorst’s inclusion was well deserved. Since 2014, TFHS has benefited from his leadership, transitioning to a single electronic health record platform to provide better-coordinated care, as well as improving the network performance across the health system’s two hospitals and specialty clinics.

We are grateful to have Mr. Dorst in our community, bringing TFHS the latest technologies, including electronic health records systems, cybersecurity software, data management, and telehealth services.
