Tahoe Forest Hospital Achieves Highest Level of Performance in the 2024 Opioid Care Honor Roll Program for California
Tahoe Forest Hospital (TFH) has been named a recipient of the 2024 California Opioid Care Honor Roll by Cal Hospital Compare (CHC) and was recognized for achieving “Superior Performance,” the highest level of performance for addressing the opioid epidemic in their community.
Cal Hospital Compare, a nonprofit organization providing Californians with objective hospital performance ratings, recognizes hospitals for their progress and performance in promoting safe and effective opioid use and providing treatment for patients with opioid use disorder.
Each year, all California adult, acute care hospitals are invited to complete a rigorous Opioid Management Hospital Self-Assessment and share their results. Using this approach, TFH achieved the 2024 Opioid Care Honor Roll and is just one of fifty-five California hospitals awarded the “Superior Performance” status.
Per CHC, hospitals that achieved “Superior Performance” have implemented advanced opioid stewardship and harm reduction efforts and are actively addressing stigma with their physicians and staff. In addition, these hospitals have implemented resources and workflows across their service lines to ensure access to preventative care and treatment for years to come.
“We attribute this recognition to the diligent work of our teams, including the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program and the partnerships with the Emergency Department, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and the Behavioral Health team,” said Louis Ward, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Tahoe Forest Health System. “At Tahoe Forest Health System, we are committed to improving the quality of care to our patients with opioid use disorder, providing access to treatment, and reducing opioid-related deaths in our community.”
