Positive Mindset vs. Toxic Positivity
In a culture where we are inundated with positive thinking and the pursuit of happiness, learning how to realistically experience both life’s positive and negative events, and corresponding emotions, is vital to our mental and physical health. Pretending that bad things don’t happen, deflecting them in discussion with others, or trying to circumvent or suppress negative emotions within ourselves can increase our stress and anxiety, which is counter-productive to the ultimate happiness and health we are likely trying to attain. This seminar will look at what having a “positive mindset” can look like while also experiencing the full spectrum of emotions within ourselves and with those in our communities.
