Rachel Durben

Since an introduction to yoga in college, Rachel has been exploring the depths of her personal yoga practice, eventually journeying into the Costa Rican jungle to complete her first teacher training in 2015. Seeking community closer to home, she found Vira Bhava Yoga in Nevada City and received her 500-hour certification in 2018. She recently completed another 300-hour teacher training, Embrace Yoga’s Roots, with Susanna Barkataki, and is currently engaged in a Yin and Meditation training with Tiffany Cruikshank and Dr. Rashmi Bismark. Rachel has been teaching since 2015, primarily at Tahoe Yoga and Wellness Center, and online with Vira Bhava Yoga. Rachel is a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance and also holds a certification as a Continuing Education Provider.

When not practicing or teaching yoga, Rachel works as the Development Director at the Great Basin Institute, an environmental nonprofit based in Reno, Nevada. She finds her greatest fulfillment in creating connections with the natural world and bringing people into relationship with their own innate wisdom. Rachel has called Truckee home for over 10 years, and loves to hike, run, ski, paddle, and travel with her partner and their adventure pup. Rachel is thrilled to join the Center for Health team and support our community by expanding yoga and wellness programming for the Truckee-Tahoe region.
