Breast cancer is the second most common cancer experienced by women, behind only skin cancer. For this reason, Tahoe Forest Health System endorses annual screening mammograms for women starting at age 40 as recommended by the American College of Radiology and Society of Breast Imaging. The American Cancer Society and U.S. Preventative Task Force agree that starting annual mammograms at age 40 saves the most lives as one in six breast cancers occur in women in their 40's.

You may be asking if annual screening is so important and effective at finding cancer in early stages, what resources are available to cover the screening?
