About the Grateful Patient Program

The Tahoe Forest Health System offers 24-hour emergency care, ambulatory surgery centers, intensive care, orthopedics and sports medicine services, medical and ambulatory surgical services, a women and family center, home health and hospice programs, multi-specialty and primary care clinics, a cancer center, long term care center, and a health and sports performance center. Patients are overwhelmingly grateful for the care they receive here, and frequently ask how they can thank valued caregivers for the loving care they received while visiting the Tahoe Forest Health System. Those requests are a testament to the appreciation our patients feel after having experienced easy access to outstanding healthcare. Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation’s Grateful Patient Program was created to provide patients with a way to share their gratitude while recognizing caregivers and staff for the care and support they or a loved one received.

Why the Grateful Patient Program Matters

Sharing gratitude has a ripple effect of goodness.  Supporting important patient services, through gifts to the Foundation, helps us expand and advance our health care endeavors, providing expert medical treatment, compassionate care, and state-of-the-art facilities.  It is always our privilege to honor your gifts by supporting quality care for our community.

What the Grateful Patient Program Supports

Rural mountain communities provide a high quality of life for many reasons. The Tahoe Truckee area is a popular destination for people from around the world. What makes our region particularly exceptional is that we have the safeguard of a well-established, local healthcare system. This adds immense value and reassurance to the lives of our community members and visitors.  That extra boost of confidence gained by having immediate access to incredible rural healthcare lets us continue to excel at being the best.   Your donations to the Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation help support all things related to having local access to excellent and compassionate care, provided by a team of outstanding providers.

This year, the Foundation helped our Tahoe Forest Hospital Emergency Department prepare for their eventual Level 3 Trauma designation by purchasing a Glidescope for emergency room clinicians.  A Glidescope is a video device that helps specially trained health care providers visualize a patient’s airway during endotracheal intubation. Our clinical staff is very grateful for this life-saving piece of equipment!

With generous donations to our Annalise King Hall fund, created by the Hall Family after experiencing the stillbirth of their newborn daughter, the Foundation was able to purchase advanced perinatal monitoring systems for our Joseph Family Center for Women and Newborn Care. This innovative equipment uses a wealth of technically advanced monitoring, measurement, and transducer technology to assist in the safe delivery of both routine and high-risk deliveries.  

Additionally, with meaningful donor gifts designated to our Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center, the Foundation will be privileged to purchase nine innovative, customizable infusion chairs. The right infusion chair, offering control over physical posture and personal comfort, shapes the patient experience as much as any other object in the infusion bay, and provides for an optimal patient experience.

The Foundation strives to collaborate on projects that enhance the patient care experience, while also increasing the quality of care - for all patients.
