Welcome to the first Harvest of the Month: Rainbow carrots!
Rainbow carrots will be available at your school on Monday, October 13th by 1 pm.
What to do?
- Contact your teacher to schedule a time for your tasting.
- Check with your teacher if any students have food allergies.
- Take the Harvest of the Month home and prepare them for your tasting! There are many recipe ideas included in the handouts, but you can always keep it simple.
- Look over the curriculum and plan key education nuggets you think your class will enjoy.
- Return the green canvas bag the produce came in to the pick up location.

Rainbow carrot fun facts
- Carrots were first grown in Afghanistan thousands of years ago, according to Food Literacy Center.
- The story about carrots improving night vision was a clever lie told by the British during World War II to hide their radar technology according to the Kids Encyclopedia Facts.
- The leafy tops, flowers, and even the seeds of the carrot plant are edible too!
- Eating too many carrots can cause a temporary condition called carotenemia (carot-en-emia), which can turn your skin yellow-orange according to the Cleveland Clinic.
