Return-to-Sport testing: Protecting athletes from reinjury

After an injury, feeling better doesn’t always mean an athlete is ready to return to play. That’s where Return-to-Sport (RTS) testing comes in.

The Tahoe Forest Therapy team offers RTS testing as part of our clinical assessment, using tests supported by research to objectively determine if an athlete has fully recovered, not just physically, but functionally. It helps answer a key question: can the athlete safely return to their sport without a high risk of re-injury?

Skipping this step can lead to re-injury, longer recovery times, and setbacks in performance.

Why Tahoe Forest?

  • Tests performed by licensed sports medicine experts
  • Personalized recovery plans
  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment
  • Collaboration with physicians, therapists, and athletic trainers

Choosing Tahoe Forest means choosing quality, safety, and expert care—so your athlete can return to sport stronger than before.

To schedule, call our Physical Therapy team at (530) 582-7488.

Injury Prevention Corner

Preventing pickleball elbow: Stay in the game, pain-free

Pickleball is fun, fast, and growing in popularity—but it’s also leading to a rise in lateral epicondylitis, commonly known as “tennis elbow.” This overuse injury causes pain on the outside of the elbow, often from repetitive swinging motions.

Protect your elbow and prevent injury with these tips:

  • Warm up and stretch before playing
  • Strengthen forearm muscles with light weights or resistance bands
  • Use proper technique and grip size to reduce strain
  • Take breaks and avoid overplaying
  • Ice and rest sore arms early—don’t push through the pain

If elbow pain starts to creep in, don’t wait. Early treatment can prevent a more serious injury and keep you on the court.
