Led by Medical Director, Medical Oncologist and Hematologist, Ahrin Koppel, MD, Medical Oncologist and Hematologist Melissa Kaime, MD, FACP, Radiation Oncologist Kathleen Legarza, MD, and Medical Oncologist and Hematologist, Thomas Semrad, MD, MAS, FACP, the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center’s mission is to provide our local community with a high level of cancer treatment and support programs not often found in rural settings.
Simply put, our cutting-edge technology is the very latest found in the medical field. Our treatment options are the most current, including access to clinical trials through our affiliation with the UC Davis Cancer Care Network, and our supportive care programs are among the best in the country.
Today, our linear accelerator (LINAC), responsible for providing radiation therapy, is nearing the end of its life. Over the next two years, the TFHS Foundation is committed to raising funds to replace this critical piece of equipment. The Foundation received a generous lead $500,000 matching gift from the Weakley Family Trust, established by longtime community supporters Ken and Lynne Weakley. Every donation to the Cancer Center will be matched dollar for dollar—doubling your impact to help replace this technology and ensure continued access to cancer care.
I’ve had cancer for 4 years and come here every month. It’s actually become something I look forward to. The staff feel like friends and the reception is so warm. It’s a wonderful center.
