#Giving Tuesday Heart Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation 12.1.2026

Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity, and the Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation invites our community to celebrate by supporting the Patient and Family Support Services at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center.

Cancer care extends beyond medical treatment. From counseling and acupuncture to massage, exercise programs, transportation and lodging assistance, the Patient and Family Support Services provide compassionate resources throughout their cancer journey. These services are offered free of charge to Cancer Center patients and families, thanks entirely to community philanthropy.

Since the Cancer Center’s early days, the vision for supportive care has been central to its mission. The Cancer Advisory Council and dedicated community members helped establish a model of care that recognizes the needs of both patients and caregivers, setting our rural cancer care apart through a commitment to supporting the whole person.

Randy Hill understood that caring for someone with cancer means caring for the entire family, including the caregivers who walk alongside them. That commitment helped shape the compassionate approach to care at Tahoe Forest. I’m proud to continue supporting the Patient and Family Support Services and help ensure patients and their loved ones continue to receive the support they need throughout their journey.

As the original Chair of the Cancer Advisory Council, I’m proud of the vision and community generosity that helped build the Cancer Center and its commitment to supporting patients and caregivers. Our Patient and Family Support Services differentiates our Cancer Center. These services have long been central to what makes cancer care at Tahoe Forest special, especially in a rural community. While these programs are supplemental, it is important to note that they are part of the greater whole and invaluable to the healing journey. The entire staff took care of me physically. The programs I participated in took care of me emotionally, mentally and even spiritually. Thank you for taking care of all of my human-ness via psychology, acupuncture, massage, crafting, and sound therapy. I am forever grateful for the all-encompassing care that the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center is and every person I encountered along the journey.
