Tahoe Forest Therapy Services provides bike fits to help improve comfort, efficiency, and performance on the bike. Our physical therapists assess movement and positioning to help riders achieve a more comfortable and efficient fit.

Is a bike fit right for you?

A bike fit may be helpful for riders experiencing:

  • Neck pain or tension

  • Shoulder pain

  • Elbow or wrist discomfort
  • Back pain

  • Hand or other numbness

  • Hip pain

  • Knee pain

  • Foot or ankle discomfort

Bike fits may also benefit riders who recently purchased a new bike, upgraded components, changed riding styles, or are preparing for road, trail, or gravel season.

A bike fit may also be beneficial for individuals recovering from surgery or injury who want to ensure their bike setup supports a safe and comfortable return to riding.

What to expect

Appointments typically last 60–90 minutes and include a one-on-one evaluation with a physical therapist.

During your session, your therapist will observe you riding your bicycle, discuss any discomfort you may be experiencing, and evaluate factors that may be affecting your riding position and comfort. This may include assessing movement patterns, measuring joint angles, and reviewing your overall bike setup.

Adjustments may include:

  • Seat height and saddle position
  • Handlebar positioning
  • Brake and shifter positioning
  • Foot and cleat alignment
  • Shoes
  • Reach and posture optimization

In some cases, your therapist may recommend equipment changes, such as a different saddle, stem, or shoes, to help improve comfort and positioning.
