Prenatal Classes

Know your birth options. Learn what to expect and how to prepare for labor, delivery, and postpartum. Classes offered in Truckee as a 6-week series or in two 6-hour weekend classes. Classes are also offered in Incline Village as a 4-week series.  Includes DVDs and book.

Infant and Child CPR Classes

In this class, new parents and family members will learn how to recognize when a baby or child needs rescue breathing, how to perform CPR, how to care for an infant who is choking and how to use an AED. Participants will receive an Infant CPR manual and have hands on practice with an infant and child manikin. This one and half hour class is appropriate for anyone who will be taking care of an infant or child, including the mother, father, and any caregivers like grandparents, friends or babysitters.

Breastfeeding Support

Meet weekly with Certified Lactation Consultants and other new breastfeeding moms for support and problem solving. These informal drop-in sessions are available weekly on Fridays from 10:00-12:00pm at the Tahoe Forest Center for Health.  $5 suggested donation.

Prenatal and Postnatal Fitness

Need help staying fit during your pregnancy or getting back into shape post baby? Try private or small group pre or postnatal yoga, Pilates, or personal training! Work with experienced professionals to help you increase strength and flexibility, maintain good posture and balance, reduce back pain, and learn invaluable breathing and relaxation techniques.

Post-Partum Training

Reclaim your new mom body with Post-Partum Training. Meet new moms and bring baby to class.

Nutrition for a Healthy Pregnancy

Feed your body and baby for optimal health! Learn how to meet all nutrition needs for you and your baby. Time is allowed for in-depth discussions on individual needs and concerns. Topics include: managing pregnancy symptoms (ie: nausea, constipation), healthy and delicious foods to meet increased nutrient needs (ie: Calcium, Vitamin D, iron, folate, Omega-3 fats) during pregnancy and breastfeeding, quick and easy recipe ideas and reducing your risk for food-borne illnesses healthy weight gain. Instructor: Betsy Taylor, RDN and mother of 2 adult children, 35 years of nutrition practice

Breastfeeding 101

Informing all pregnant moms about the benefits of breastfeeding. Class includes: tour of Labor & Delivery department, physical assessment of breasts if requested (private consult room available), latch and positioning education, learning of the importance of breastfeeding, education on Baby Friendly practices at Tahoe Forest Hospital and the opportunity to connect with other pregnant moms before delivery. Taught by an IBCLC Lactation Consultant

Baby Massage

This 4-week series is open to parents and their infants, from newborn to crawling. For babies, massage promotes bonding and attachment, improves circulation, digestion and organization, reduces muscular tension, reduces fussiness and helps baby learn to relax. For parents, massage promotes bonding, relaxation, communication (both verbal and nonverbal), positive parenting skills and gives an opportunity to connect and share quality time with your little one.
