Welcome to the last Harvest of the Month: Apricots!
Apricots will be available at your school on Monday, May 18th.
What to do?
- Contact your teacher to schedule a time for your tasting.
- Check with your teacher if any students have food allergies.
- Take the Harvest of the Month home and prepare them for your tasting! There are many recipe ideas included in the handouts, but you can always keep it simple.
- Look over the curriculum and plan key education nuggets you think your class will enjoy.
- Return the green canvas bag the produce came in to the pick up location.

Apricot fun facts
- They originated in China, can be eaten fresh or dried, and are a good source of vitamin A and potassium.
- Apricots are related to roses, as well as peaches, plums, and almonds.
- The blossoms on apricot trees appear early in the spring, often before other fruit trees.
- A large portion of the apricots grown in the US come from California.
- Apricots were even eaten by astronauts on the Apollo moon missions.
