Overview
Many adults in the United States have high blood pressure, or hypertension. Controlling or lowering blood pressure can help prevent chronic kidney disease, heart attack, heart failure, and stroke. Screening for high blood pressure and taking steps to lower it through lifestyle changes — and medication when appropriate — can help keep blood pressure under control. (Healthy People 2030)
