Overview

Mental health refers to your overall psychological well-being, including your emotional, cognitive, and social functioning. It plays just as important a role in your overall well-being as physical health.

Goal

Three metrics for Mental/Behavioral Health are included in the Community Health Index. The target populations are adults and school-aged youths.

Loneliness

Goal: This goal has been met. The prevalence of adults experiencing loneliness, 28.0%, is lower than national prevalence identified by the UCLA Loneliness Scale survey at 38.5%.

Rarely or Never Gets Needed Social and Emotional Support

Goal: Reduce the proportion of adults who rarely or never get needed social or emotional support

Youth Mental Health

Goal: Reduce the proportions of youth who experienced sadness or hopelessness almost every day for two weeks or more
