Overview
Having a personal health care provider, or Primary Care Provider (PCP), can lead to better overall health. Your PCP acts as your main point of contact for all health care needs, including preventive care, as well as treatment for acute and chronic conditions. A provider who knows your health history and needs can help ensure you receive consistent, personalized care.
Goal
Increase the proportion of adults who have a primary care provider from the baseline of 65% (2021) to the Healthy People 2030 target of 84% by June 30, 2029.

Has a Personal Doctor or Health Care Provider chart description: Chart shows that in 2021, 65% of adults had a primary care provider, as compared to 79.1% in 2025. The Healthy People 2030 target proportion of adults who have a primary care provider is 84% and improvement is in the upward direction.
