This year the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is celebrating sustainable eating. In the United States, 19 billion pounds of food are wasted every year -- 42 billion of that comes from personal kitchens. Emissions from food waste contribute more to climate change than transportation, overpopulation, trash and deforestation.
While this feels overwhelming on a national and global level, the good news is we can all help to address this problem by reducing food waste at home, in our own kitchens.
