Dear Community Members,

One of my most significant moments this fall has been witnessing our community come together to address one of its most pressing needs – homelessness. Tahoe Forest Health System, the Town of Truckee, and Nevada County have partnered to launch a new shelter and navigation program, providing around-the-clock support to local, unhoused individuals.

This collaborative effort, which unites healthcare, housing, and local government, reflects the belief that health begins with stability, safety, and human connection. It serves as a powerful example of how we are expanding our approach to delivering care – not only treating illness but also working together to create the conditions necessary for wellness to thrive.

We are also redefining access to care in many ways. Our recent groundbreaking ceremony for the new Gateway primary care center represents more than just the start of a new building; it symbolizes our shared commitment to bringing health within everyone’s reach. Once complete, this expansion will increase patient access by 34% and create capacity for an additional 50,000 clinic visits each year, ensuring that care remains timely, local, and affordable.

Tahoe Forest also proudly sponsored both Truckee and North Tahoe High Schools’ football teams this season, which provided us an opportunity to engage with students and families, listen to community feedback, and strengthen relationships that will shape our future planning.

As we enter the holiday season, I want to express my gratitude for the trust you place in our health system. Every innovation and improvement is inspired by our commitment to you and to the health of our region. Thank you for joining us in building a healthier, more compassionate, and connected community.

I wish you, your family, and your loved ones a warm, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving!

With appreciation,
Anna M. Roth, RN, MS, MPH

Dear Community Members,

October is shaping up to be a busy and inspiring month at Tahoe Forest Health System. As we step into fall, I’m excited to share highlights that reflect both our community spirit and the progress we are making across our organization.

We have been celebrating meaningful achievements across our health system. Congratulations to Marie Clukey, recipient of the 2025 Tom & Pam Hobday Spirit of Giving Award, and to our inpatient nursing staff for earning a 5-star HCAHPS rating for communication, a distinction achieved by only a handful of hospitals statewide. At Incline Village Community Hospital, our emergency and stroke teams recently achieved a door-to-needle time of just 33 minutes for Telestroke patients, an extraordinary accomplishment well above the national benchmark.

This October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I encourage everyone to prioritize preventive care by scheduling a mammogram or reminding the women in your life to do so.

We’re also proud to introduce CredibleMind, a new online resource offering free, confidential access to thousands of trusted mental health and wellness tools. This important addition expands the ways we can support both our community and staff in their emotional well-being.

Finally, I’d like to recognize the incredible generosity of our community. Thanks to our thrift store staff, volunteers, and local shoppers, more than $200,000 has been raised this year to support hospice care, an inspiring example of compassion in action.

Thank you for all that you do to make our community strong and vibrant. Together, we are building a healthier, more connected community.

With appreciation,
Anna M. Roth, RN, MS, MPH

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

From our beginnings as a 15-bed hospital made possible by the vision and generosity of our community, Tahoe Forest Health System has always been by the community, for the community. That spirit remains strong today and continues to inspire our growth and evolution.

As we look ahead, we are embarking on a shared pursuit of the future, a horizon that will guide us in the years to come. This work will take thoughtful planning and collaboration, but it builds on the remarkable progress already happening across our health system. Emerging themes in these conversations include improving access to care within reach, building on excellence, and expanding our capabilities to meet change with resilience and transformation.

We are also excited about the strides we are making to expand and improve access to care right now. Our clinics and facilities are undergoing enhancements, with renovations and technology upgrades designed to make it easier for patients to receive care close to home. These investments, including new equipment and modernized systems, will help us continue delivering safe, high-quality care for years to come.

Innovation and technology remain top priorities. Our teams are implementing updated digital tools, enhancing communication systems, and exploring emerging technologies that support both patient care and staff workflows. These improvements allow us to focus even more on what matters most: our patients.

The coming weeks also bring a variety of community events on important health and wellness topics. We are proud to both host and participate in these gatherings, which give us an opportunity to connect with our community outside of the clinical setting.

As we transition into fall, we look forward to the change of pace in our communities as we all settle back into our routines. We hope to see you at our upcoming events and wish you a happy and healthy season ahead.

With appreciation,
Anna M. Roth, RN, MS, MPH

As the summer winds down, I have been reflecting on the remarkable progress our organization continues to make in delivering high-quality care and advancing our strategic priorities.

I’m happy to share that Tahoe Forest Health System has once again been recognized as a winner of the Sierra Sun’s 2025 Best of North Lake Tahoe & Truckee across multiple categories. This honor reflects the unwavering dedication and excellence of our entire team, whose commitment to compassionate care truly sets us apart. I am proud to serve alongside such an exceptional team. And thank you to our community for your enduring trust and support. It’s a privilege to serve you.

I’m also proud to share that Tahoe Forest Health System has earned the prestigious Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence™ designation from the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program™ (NQMBC™), recognizing our exceptional commitment to the highest national standards in breast health care quality, performance, and accountability. Additionally, our emergency and inpatient teams were recently recognized for excellence in stroke care with the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Rural Recognition GOLD Award for 2025. Both are incredible accomplishments for our extraordinary team.

Construction and site improvements are underway at several locations, including the North Shore Clinic in Tahoe City, the Gateway Center on Donner Pass Road, and the Sierra Center (formerly Rite Aid). And we’re in the process of upgrading key diagnostic equipment to maintain our high standards of speed and accuracy, during which a mobile CT unit will be set up in the Emergency Room parking lot through August. These construction projects are each a key component in our efforts to expand access to primary care and specialty services here in our communities. Follow our progress at tfhd.com/construction.

Thank you to our team members, partners, and community for your continued support and collaboration as we move forward.

With appreciation,

As I wrap up my first four months of service here at Tahoe Forest, I want to thank you for welcoming me to this community and for your continued support of our health system. I recorded a brief video message in gratitude.

I hope you will give an equally warm welcome to Kim McCarl who joined us this month as Chief Administrative Officer. Kim will work directly with me and in partnership with our community partners as we chart the future of Tahoe Forest. We are committed to transparency and collaboration as we build a healthcare organization for the future.

Congress’ proposed “One Big Beautiful Bill” stands to bring significant changes for rural health systems like ours. Our leadership team is actively involved in legislative discussions, advocating for the needs of both our organization and the broader rural healthcare community. We will have more to share in the coming months as we learn more about how these changes will impact Tahoe Forest.

We’re also making steady progress on several important facility projects aimed at expanding and improving local care:

  • Construction on the Tahoe Forest Sierra Center (formerly Rite Aid) is scheduled to begin in mid-July, with completion expected in summer 2026.
  • Our Truckee Primary Care project at Gateway Center is moving forward; we anticipate securing permits soon and plan to break ground in early July.
  • Work continues at Tahoe City Primary Care on Fabian Way, with a target completion date in spring 2026.

We recently launched a new Community Commitment page on our website, sharing updates on our Community Health Needs Assessment and local public health initiatives. You can find more information below. We invite you to visit and share this resource.

To expand access to care, Diagnostic Imaging now offers MRI and ultrasound services on Sundays. We’re also transitioning to an upgraded medical imaging technology that enables the digital storage, retrieval, presentation, and sharing of medical images, thereby enhancing diagnostic support for both providers and patients.

I hope you get out to enjoy all the wonderful summer activities available in our region, and I look forward to sharing future updates as we work to improve healthcare services available here in our community.

With appreciation,

President & CEO

As we step into the summer season, we’re excited to share some of the ways our team is working to expand care, foster connection, and support wellness throughout our region.

This June, we’re introducing a Pet-Assisted Therapy pilot program in the Tahoe Forest Hospital lobby. Our therapy dogs will be easy to spot in their TFHS vests, and each has a collectible trading card for visitors. These four-legged friends are here to bring comfort, joy, and a sense of calm to everyone they meet—patients, staff, and visitors alike.

In that same spirit, we’re proud to announce that our Pharmacy now offers high-quality veterinary medications. From trusted brand names to cost-effective generics, and hard-to-find specialty pharmaceuticals, we are supporting the health of all members of the Tahoe Forest family – including its pets.

We’re pleased to share the continued success of the Incline Village Oral Health Improvement for Children initiative. Thanks to $120,000 in grant funding, the IVCH Foundation has provided essential dental care to local students, furthering our commitment to providing accessible care to children in our community.

As always, we’re grateful for the trust you place in us. We hope this season brings you time to rest, connect, and enjoy all that summer in our mountain community has to offer.

As May arrives, it brings fresh energy, moments of reflection, and the promise of summer. At Tahoe Forest Health System, it’s also a time to celebrate what defines us—our people, our values, and our commitment to the community we serve.

This month, we proudly celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, honoring the rich cultures and contributions that strengthen our region. May also marks Mental Health Awareness Month, reminding us to support one another with compassion and help reduce the stigma around mental health.

We’re grateful for the incredible nurses we honor during National Nurses Week (May 6–12) and for every team member we celebrate during National Health System Week (May 12–16). Their dedication truly makes a difference in the lives of so many.

As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives for our country. To our veterans and military families, we offer our deepest gratitude.

Wishing you a healthy, joyful start to summer.

I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received since joining Tahoe Forest Health System. It has been a privilege to meet so many dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a difference in our community.

April is Stress Awareness Month, an important time to recognize the impact that mental health has on our well-being. Below you will learn more about the services we offer, including psychiatry, group and individual therapy, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). Additionally, our Wellness Center offers stress-busting programs such as acupuncture, yoga, massage, and various support groups. At TFHS, we are committed to fostering a culture where mental health is prioritized, stigma is eliminated, and resources are readily available to support both our patients and staff.

With Earth Day on April 22, I would like to highlight TFHS’s commitment to sustainability. Through initiatives like the Climate Transformation Alliance and the “Don’t Drop the Top” recycling program, we continue to take meaningful steps to protect our environment and preserve the beauty of our region for future generations.

This month, we also celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month, recognizing the incredible individuals who give their time and talents to support our mission. Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the care and services we provide, and we are deeply grateful for their generosity and dedication.

As I continue to settle in, I look forward to connecting with more members of this wonderful community. Together, we will build on the strong foundation that makes Tahoe Forest Health System such an exceptional place.
