Tahoe Forest Health System proudly congratulates Family Medicine physician Dr. Joshua Pfent on completing the prestigious Leadville 100 MTB—one of the world’s most challenging cross-country mountain bike races.

Held annually in Leadville, Colorado, at elevations above 10,000 feet, the grueling 100-mile race took place on August 9, 2025. Featuring steep climbs and technical terrain, it is a true test of endurance and skill for even the most experienced riders.

Over the past year, Dr. Pfent dedicated himself to rigorous training, balancing his role as a full-time physician, embracing new fatherhood, and diving deep into modern training and sports nutrition. His commitment and perseverance paid off with a strong race-day performance, crossing the finish line in 10:50:05 and earning the coveted Leadville finisher’s belt buckle.

Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Pfent shared, “This process forged discipline and built habits that enable me to be the best version of myself for my son, my wife, and my community.”

For Dr. Pfent, the experience was about more than just the race. It was a year of growth—building discipline, developing lifelong habits, and setting the tone for life as a father, husband, and physician. He credits the support of his family, friends, and especially his wife, Meg, for helping him reach this incredible milestone.

Congratulations, Dr. Pfent, on this remarkable achievement and for representing the Truckee/Tahoe community with grit, heart, and determination!
