Tahoe Forest Health System Welcomes First Baby of 2026

Tahoe Forest Health System is delighted to announce the arrival of the first baby of the New Year, Garmandi Hernandez Lezo, born on January 1, 2026, at 9:29 am.

Baby Garmandi weighed 7 pounds and measured 20 inches long at birth. He is the son of proud parents Alejandro Hernandez and Ana Lezo, longtime Truckee residents who have called the community home for the past 14 years.

Garmandi joins his big sister Elif, age 3, who is thrilled to welcome her new baby brother and already loves him dearly. The family shared that their son arrived right on his due date, making his birth especially meaningful. “We feel so blessed to be able to be parents again,” the parents shared.

Garmandi was delivered by Dr. Taylor, with the family expressing heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care they received throughout labor and delivery.

The Hernandez-Lezo family shared their thanks for the team at the Joseph Family Center for Women and Newborn Care, noting the compassionate and attentive environment. “The Joseph Family Center made us feel like we are part of a family. Everyone took care of us as parents and our newborn son with love and attention. We are very grateful for everyone,” they shared. This birth holds special significance for the family, as both their daughter Elif and Alejandro himself were born at Tahoe Forest Hospital.

Tahoe Forest Hospital’s Joseph Family Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the needs, safety, and comfort of new moms and families. The hospital has been nationally certified as a Baby-Friendly Hospital since 2010 and is a Safe Haven Baby Drop-Off location.
