Behavioral Health Comes to IVCH
Katina Varzos, Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry

Introducing Katina Varzos, Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry

Katina Varzos, CNM, PMH-APRN, joined Tahoe Forest Health System in July 2020 as an NP/PA for Behavioral Health at Incline Health Center (IHC). Ms. Varzos received her Bachelor of Science at Cornell University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University. She received her Post Masters Certificate, Psychiatric Mental Health APRN, from Drexel University. She is Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Ms. Varzos is currently practicing at Incline Health Center three days a week. In the very near future a Behavioral Health Intensivist (BHI) will also be hired to practice two days per week at IHC. Having both an NP and BHI offers comprehensive mental health services to the community. The health system and Foundation have been developing the plan and sourcing funding for the integration of behavioral health into the primary care clinic since 2017, when the TFHS Community Health Needs Assessment report strongly indicated a need by the community for these services. Katina has shadowed with physicians at IHC and has reached out to local practitioners and organizations that offer mental health services, such as Tahoe Family Solutions, to spread the word that she is now a community resource.  We are thrilled for Katina’s arrival and expect that she will add significant value to Incline Health Center and our community.
