Anna Roth CEO

Greetings from Tahoe Forest Health System!

As I wrap up my first four months of service here at Tahoe Forest, I want to thank you for welcoming me to this community and for your continued support of our health system. I recorded a brief video message in gratitude.

I hope you will give an equally warm welcome to Kim McCarl who joined us this month as Chief Administrative Officer. Kim will work directly with me and in partnership with our community partners as we chart the future of Tahoe Forest. We are committed to transparency and collaboration as we build a healthcare organization for the future.

Congress’ proposed “One Big Beautiful Bill” stands to bring significant changes for rural health systems like ours. Our leadership team is actively involved in legislative discussions, advocating for the needs of both our organization and the broader rural healthcare community. We will have more to share in the coming months as we learn more about how these changes will impact Tahoe Forest.

We’re also making steady progress on several important facility projects aimed at expanding and improving local care:

  • Construction on the Tahoe Forest Sierra Center (formerly Rite Aid) is scheduled to begin in mid-July, with completion expected in summer 2026.
  • Our Truckee Primary Care project at Gateway Center is moving forward; we anticipate securing permits soon and plan to break ground in early July.
  • Work continues at Tahoe City Primary Care on Fabian Way, with a target completion date in spring 2026.

We recently launched a new Community Commitment page on our website, sharing updates on our Community Health Needs Assessment and local public health initiatives. You can find more information below. We invite you to visit and share this resource.

To expand access to care, Diagnostic Imaging now offers MRI and ultrasound services on Sundays. We’re also transitioning to an upgraded medical imaging technology that enables the digital storage, retrieval, presentation, and sharing of medical images, thereby enhancing diagnostic support for both providers and patients.

I hope you get out to enjoy all the wonderful summer activities available in our region, and I look forward to sharing future updates as we work to improve healthcare services available here in our community.

With appreciation,
Anna M. Roth, RN, MSN, MPH

Community Commitment

Our Progress, Your Health

At Tahoe Forest Health System, we’re not just caring for your health—we’re committed to the well-being of our entire community. Our new Community Commitment resource offers a transparent look into our strategic efforts and progress across key health areas.

What it is

A dedicated hub where you can dive into our Community Health Index, explore targeted goals across preventive care, chronic disease management, mental and emotional wellness, and more.

Why we launched it

To track meaningful change in real-time, align with national standards like Healthy People 2030, and ensure we continuously invest in impactful health initiatives beyond our hospital walls.

Key goals featured on the dashboard

  • Boost insurance coverage among socioeconomically disadvantaged adults from ~33% to the 92.4% Healthy People 2030 target by 2029
  • Raise mammogram rates among women 40–74 from 60% to the 80.3% national target
  • Improve diabetes and hypertension control and ensure more adults have a personal provider
  • Support mental and youth mental health, including reducing loneliness (already better than benchmark!)

By sharing these metrics publicly, Tahoe Forest will ensure accountability, spark community engagement, and empowers all of us—patients, neighbors, leaders—to play a role in fostering healthier lives.

Visit our Community Commitment Dashboard to explore each health area, learn about goals and strategies, and track real progress.

Fourth of July Fundraiser for IVCH Foundation

We had an unforgettable 4th of July celebration with over 180 guests at the beautiful lakefront estate of longtime supporter Kern Schumacher.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised $1.2 million toward enhancing surgical services at Incline Village Community Hospital—bringing us one step closer to expanding access to high-quality care on Tahoe’s North Shore.

Guests enjoyed Independence Day featuring delicious bites from renowned Chef Billy McCullough and live music from a local band.

Want to learn more about the Surgery Enhancement Project or how you can get involved? Contact Karli Bunnell, Executive Director of the IVCH Foundation, at [email protected] or make an online donation.

Kind Words

“I was scheduled for both a mammogram and DEXA scan. There was a computer glitch with the DEXA, and my mammogram was performed first. I didn’t even know about the glitch until the tech apologized for the wait. The care was coordinated so I didn’t have to wait.”
