Anna Roth CEO

Greetings from Tahoe Forest Health System!

As we step into the summer season, we’re excited to share some of the ways our team is working to expand care, foster connection, and support wellness throughout our region.

This June, we’re introducing a Pet-Assisted Therapy pilot program in the Tahoe Forest Hospital lobby. Our therapy dogs will be easy to spot in their TFHS vests, and each has a collectible trading card for visitors. These four-legged friends are here to bring comfort, joy, and a sense of calm to everyone they meet—patients, staff, and visitors alike.

In that same spirit, we’re proud to announce that our Pharmacy now offers high-quality veterinary medications. From trusted brand names to cost-effective generics, and hard-to-find specialty pharmaceuticals, we are supporting the health of all members of the Tahoe Forest family – including its pets.

We’re pleased to share the continued success of the Incline Village Oral Health Improvement for Children initiative. Thanks to $120,000 in grant funding, the IVCH Foundation has provided essential dental care to local students, furthering our commitment to providing accessible care to children in our community.

As always, we’re grateful for the trust you place in us. We hope this season brings you time to rest, connect, and enjoy all that summer in our mountain community has to offer.

With appreciation,
Anna M. Roth, RN, MS, MPH

Therapy Dogs

Meet our furry team members

Therapy dogs play an important role in hospitals by providing comfort, companionship, and emotional support to patients, families, and staff. These specially trained dogs visit patients in their rooms, waiting areas, or common spaces, offering a calming presence that can help reduce anxiety, stress, and feelings of loneliness. Interaction with therapy dogs has been shown to lower blood pressure, ease pain perception, and improve mood, contributing to a more positive healing environment. In addition to supporting patients, therapy dogs often bring moments of relief and joy to healthcare workers, helping boost morale in challenging settings.

Oral Health Improvement for Children

As a part of the Incline Village Oral Health Improvement for Children initiative, the IVCH Foundation has utilized $120,000 in Oral Health Grant funding to provide ongoing dental services to our community’s students each year. This April, in collaboration with dental students from Truckee Meadows Community College, 124 students at Incline Elementary School and 19 students at Incline Middle School received a free dental screening and fluoride varnish.

Additionally, in May, eight students received dental sealants at Incline Elementary School, utilizing grant-funded portable dental equipment. The sealants were applied by the provider team Mark Rosenberg, DDS, MPH, and Julie Stage-Rosenberg, RDH, MPH. We are excited to continue the impactful work of the Oral Health Improvement program, ensuring that our community’s children receive the essential dental care they need for years to come.

Learn about some of the updates coming to IVCH.

Hi there, my name is Karli Epstein. I’m the Executive Director of the Incline Village Community Hospital Foundation and Tahoe Forest Health System Foundations. As foundations, our main job at the hospital is to raise funds for vital equipment, programs, and technology that make a difference for our patients and our employees right here at Tahoe Forest.

We were able to receive a $7.88 million grant from the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation. This grant is going to be absolutely transformational for Incline Village Community Hospital Foundation. This is the largest grant that our foundation has ever received, and it is for one particular project, which is our Surgical Enhancement Program.

This is going to really energize our surgery program. It will completely redo our surgery, which, I don’t know if any of you have been to Incline Surgery, but it is the last original space that we have at Incline Village Community Hospital. We are going to be adding two ORs, which will allow us to expand some of the programs that we’re able to do and the surgical offerings that we have. It will also allow us to recruit and retain some of our talented surgeons that need that updated space.

We’re going to redo the entire space and have two ORs. We’re doing the air handlers, which will allow us to have the negative air pressure to do some of those GI procedures. We’re going to redo our data closet. Right now, we are completely maxed out of data in Incline Village, which doesn’t allow us to add new programs and services, potentially telehealth. We are unable to do that right now, so this program and these funds will allow us to change that.

We will also expand our post-op area and our registration. So, those of you who walk into Incline, you’ll be expecting to see a beautiful new registration space, very similar to what Tahoe Forest has on the second floor of the Cancer Center or the MOB. We’re going to have a new staff lounge for our employees, and it will be the last kind of frontage area. We’re going to do a whole big expansion there.

Incline Village Community Hospital Foundation is a proud recipient of Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation dollars. They are a charitable private foundation in Incline Village, and Dave and Cheryl Duffield have done so much to improve life in Incline Village. Their entire mission is to make sure that they leave our town better than they found it, and we are just so proud and grateful to receive this funding that’s going to impact so many patient lives.

High School Sports Pre-Participation Physical Exam Requirements

Due to the recent policy changes to the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA), a new medical eligibility form is required for high school sports participation.

If a student has had a Well Child exam in the past 12 months but received the old NIAA form, please stop by the provider’s office to obtain a new NIAA form. If it has been more than 12 months since the student’s Well Child exam, they will need to make an appointment to have their new NIAA form completed.

We encourage all students to get their Well Child and Pre-Participation Sports Physical Exam. These exams can be scheduled with your child’s pediatrician or primary care provider.

As medical professionals, our obligation is solely to the health and wellness of our patients, not to verifying personal information. Genital examinations are not performed as part of pre-participation sports physicals. Additionally, we will not require a birth certificate to be presented. Our providers will rely on the student and/or his or her parent/guardian to self-proclaim their eligibility for sports participation.
