Tahoe Forest Health System is launching the Lab Affordability Pilot to continue to reduce financial barriers to care for all patients. The Lab Affordability Pilot offers 25% lower pricing on approximately 70% of laboratory tests conducted by Tahoe Forest Health System. 

In addition to making lower-cost laboratory services available to all patients, additional financial support is available through Financial Customer Service.

How it works

Following are the steps to participate in the Lab Affordability Pilot:

  1. Receive a lab order from your provider. The lab order may be accessed in MyChart.
  2. Contact Financial Customer Service for cost estimates and financial support resources.
  3. Schedule an appointment for your lab work.

The Lab Affordability Pilot is available to all patients receiving eligible laboratory services at Tahoe Forest Health System.

Patients will make an appointment for their lab draw online or by calling our scheduling center at (530) 582-6205. Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are strongly encouraged to decrease wait time.

Yes, patients will need a provider’s order.

Approximately 70% of laboratory tests are included in the Lab Affordability Pilot. Pricing varies by test.

Patients are encouraged to reach out to Financial Customer Service prior to their lab appointment for a customized cost estimate, available pricing and to discuss financial support resources that may be available even with health coverage, whether it’s a high deductible health plan, private insurance, Medicare, or other coverage programs.

Patients who need additional help with the cost of care may be eligible for financial support programs. Our team can help determine available options and answer questions about the application process.

While Community Health Labs offered a limited selection of discounted laboratory tests, the new program provides reduced pricing across approximately 70% of laboratory tests, thereby expanding access to care to a greater number of patients.
