Groundbreaking Ceremony and Construction Project Updates

Tahoe Forest Health System is pleased to share updates on several key construction projects that continue to move forward across our campuses. Each project represents an important investment in expanding and improving access to high-quality healthcare services for our community. For general information on the plans for each construction site, please visit TFHD.com/construction-projects/.
Gateway
At the Gateway site, progress has been steady since the grading permit was issued on July 17, 2025. Contractors have been working long hours to stay ahead of the winter season.
A Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on September 24, 2025, attended by Tahoe Forest Health System’s CEO, Board of Directors, and Administrative Council. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the start of construction, tour the site, and meet the contractors bringing this project to life.
The construction team has since graded the hill for additional parking and built a rock wall that will connect seamlessly with the existing structure at the Medical Office Building (MOB). The District is currently awaiting a Phase 1 Tenant Improvement permit for suites 1–8a, as well as feedback from the Town of Truckee on Phase 2 and Frontage improvement plans.
Phase 1 Completion (West Side & Parking) is estimated for Summer 2026. Phase 2 Completion (East Side & Frontage) is estimated for late Spring 2027.
Sierra Center
Following the Town of Truckee’s issuance of the building permit on July 28, 2025, construction at the Sierra Center began immediately. Contractors quickly got to work demolishing the existing walls, floors, and ceilings to make way for the next phase of development. The team has since moved on to installing under-slab utilities, preparing new front sidewalks and parking areas, and coordinating installation of the brand-new roof.
Minimal sitework (including the generator pad and waterproofing) is scheduled for completion before the regional deadline of October 15. Once exterior work wraps up for the season, contractors will shift focus to interior construction through the winter months.
Estimated completion is Summer 2026.
North Shore Clinic
Renovations at the North Shore Clinic are also progressing smoothly. Following demolition, contractors began framing new walls and installing updated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems in both buildings.
A new gable roof has been framed, and ADA-compliant concrete walkways have been poured along the exterior. New siding has also been installed, giving the facility a fresh, modern look. The construction team continues to complete sitework upgrades ahead of the October 15 deadline.
Estimated completion is Summer 2026.
Tahoe Forest Health System extends its appreciation to the construction teams, community partners, and Town of Truckee officials who continue to support these essential projects. Together, we are building a healthier future for our region.
