This is an amazingly pleasant experience for something that could otherwise be very miserable. From the front desk, to the medical assistance, to the oncology nurses, on this day, Denise, I couldn't expect to be in more capable and caring hands. Not to mention the environment is also very soothing. Also, many kudos to Dr. Koppel, Who is also very capable and amazing at engaging in meaningful conversation about side effects and prognosis. She is exceptional. She was so patient to listen and then offer valuable information. A very, very happy that my South lake Tahoe urologist recommended Dr. Koppel and the Gene of Upshaw Cancer Center.

Dr. Koppel is excellent. She was clear and compassionate in her explanation of my condition and treatment options. I trust Dr. Koppel. Kim, the nurse navigator, has an understanding of my personal situation and she Is skillful at making things run smoothly. I feel my concerns were heard and I know I can get answers to any questions I have. This is very comforting.

After telling my chemo nurse my symptom challenges, my care provider immediately came to my chemo chair to brainstorm a path forward. She helped alleviate some of my concerns immediately, and suggested some potential causes and solutions. She also set the stage for an ER or urgent care visit of my symptoms worsened. In one case, a week later, they did worsen. I checked in with Mackenzie via mychart and was advised to head to urgent care. After that visit and a CT, my provider reduced a med that she thought could be causing my issues. It worked! I have the utmost confidence in my providers.

My oncologist, PA, and chemo nurses have been exceptional in listening to my concerns, answering my questions, and including me in decisionmaking. They clearly explain complex medical concepts. With all of that communication in the technical realm, their interpersonal skills are also top-notch.
