Dr. Kathleen Legarza joined the team at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center in Summer 2019.
She is the Radiation Oncology Medical Director of the Cancer Center and specializes in treating patients with malignant and some benign diseases through the use of ionizing radiation and other modalities.
Dr. Legarza attended medical school at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Reno and Las Vegas. She completed her radiation oncology residency at the California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco. She is certified by the American Board of Radiology.
Dr. Legarza grew up in the Reno-Tahoe area. After completing her training in San Francisco and working in San Diego, she decided to return to the area to raise her children close to family, Lake Tahoe, and the mountains. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. She believes in delivering excellent, individualized, and supportive care to her patients.
