TFHS Recognized for World Class Service and Performance Excellence- GOLD CAPE AWARD

California Awards from Performance Excellence

California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE) Recognizes Exceptional Talent in Healthcare

Each year the California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE) recognizes organizations that demonstrate world class performance in their industry. For 2010, Tahoe Forest Health System (TFHS) was a top Gold-level award recipient for its exceptional healthcare performance.

“This recognition demonstrates our level of commitment to high quality healthcare for the benefit of our community” said Ginny Razo, chief operating officer, TFHS. “It’s important for the community to feel it can trust its health care professionals, we would not receive this level of recognition without the dedication and teamwork of our staff.”

Leading California’s economic vitality, a total of eight organizations were recognized for their performance excellence by the California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE). California leading organizations represent business, education, healthcare, non-profit and military. For more than 20 years, award recipients have demonstrated their commitment to furthering the pursuit of performance excellence by sharing information with hundreds of thousands of companies (i.e. healthcare organizations). These efforts encourage other organizations to undertake their own performance improvement.

The CAPE award program, which emulates the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program, recognizes organizations that demonstrate superior performance in seven key business areas including leadership; strategic planning, customer and market focus, measurement and knowledge management, human resources, process management and business results.

Brent Duggleby, Chair of the CAPE Council applauded this year’s winners. “The commitment of these organizations to the principles and core elements of the Baldrige criteria is truly inspiring to everyone. Each organization that participates in the process gains, and these organizations are exceptional examples of excellence.”

The top Gold-level award recipients are: Tahoe Forest Health System, Truckee; Sutter Davis Hospital, Davis; Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles and Feather River Hospital, Paradise.

CAPE Silver-level award recipients are: Adventist Health Central Valley Network, Hanford; Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, San Diego and Stellar Solutions, Inc., Palo Alto.

CAPE also recognized a Bronze-level award recipient: Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles.

CAPE also oversees the Governor’s Awards for Excellence and the United States Senate Productivity Awards. The CAPE Award recipients will be honored at the 17th Annual Best Practices and Awards Conference, which is held on Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina in San Diego, Calif.
