Local High School Students Gain Hands-On Healthcare Experience Through Tahoe Forest Health System’s Job Shadow Program

Local high school students recently completed Tahoe Forest Health System’s Healthcare Professional Job Shadow Program, which concluded on April 28, 2026. Now in its second year, the program gives students valuable, real-world exposure to healthcare careers through hands-on experiences across multiple departments within the health system.
Throughout the program, students had the opportunity to learn directly from healthcare professionals and gain insight into a wide range of career paths. Experiences in the Operating Room (OR), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Oncology departments were among those students found especially memorable and impactful.
Student feedback from this year’s program was overwhelmingly positive. One student shared, “Everyone we shadowed seemed so happy. They all said they have the best place to work.”
A sincere thank you goes to the many departments and team members who welcomed students into their spaces and generously shared their time, expertise, energy, and enthusiasm. Their willingness to introduce students to their professions is what truly made the experience meaningful.
Tahoe Forest Health System is proud to support the next generation of healthcare professionals through real-world learning experiences for local students.
