Hello, my name is Jim Sturtevant, Administrative Director of Transitions with the Home Health Department here at Tahoe Forest Health Systems. I’d like to talk to you a little bit about what our department provides to our community.
We basically provide all the skilled services and disciplines that you would have in a controlled environment such as a hospital. Once you’re discharged from the hospital, sometimes you just need a little bit more care in the safety of your own home before you venture out to, say, an outpatient clinic or to your physician’s office.
We provide skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and dietitians as needed. The great thing about this program is that we can get you out of the hospital sooner so you can sleep in your own bed at night. You can actually watch your own TV in your own living room and, on top of that, have us visit you in your own home in the safety of your own setting and give you all the disciplines that you need.
We teach everything you need to know, such as your physical therapy exercises, your medication regimen, everything you could think of that a nurse or a physical therapist might do in your room is exactly what we do in your house. Again, it allows you to go home sooner and allows you to have the safety in your own home to continue your recovery.
