Hi, I’m Dr. Kathleen Legarza. I’m a Radiation Oncologist and the Director of Radiation Oncology at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Cancer Center at Tahoe Forest Hospital.
I grew up here and attended UNR and then completed my residency training in San Francisco.
I have 20 years of experience treating all types of cancer. I use advanced technology along with specialized imaging to specifically target the tumor while sparing surrounding tissue.
This allows improved treatment tolerance and decrease side effects. Thanks to the generosity of this community, we have state-of-the-art equipment.
That means that every patient that visits our center gets world-class care right here close to home. My favorite part about being a doctor is learning about the patient, not just their cancer diagnosis.
I feel the best course of treatment is to combine my expertise with the patients needs, goals, and expectations. I want to support the patient through their entire treatment and beyond.
