New Scholarship Fund Established in Honor of Local Nurse Greg Tarter

The Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation has established the Greg Tarter Memorial Scholarship Fund in partnership with the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, honoring the life and legacy of longtime Tahoe Forest nurse Greg Tarter while supporting the next generation of nurses.

During his 28-year career at Tahoe Forest, Greg served in the Intensive Care Unit, caring for countless patients and families throughout some of their most vulnerable moments. He was known for his kindness, steady presence and deep compassion for both his patients and colleagues.

The scholarship fund will provide $5,000 annual workforce scholarships to individuals pursuing careers in nursing, including those entering the profession as a second career. Nursing was Greg’s second degree and his true passion, making the scholarship a meaningful reflection of the path he chose and the impact he made through his career.
