We understand that medical bills can be confusing, and we’d like to share some important information about upcoming changes to your billing statements.
Beginning November 1, 2017, Tahoe Forest Health System (TFHS) will be using a new electronic medical record (EMR) system called Epic, one of the most widely used health care technology systems in the country. EMRs are mandated for all hospitals, and patients benefit by being able to manage aspects of their health care more conveniently.
How will my statements change?
You’ll continue to receive statements from our current system for services rendered prior to November 1, 2017 until balances, if any, are paid. This includes separate statements for MultiSpecialty Clinic services as well as hospital services.
Once your current balances are paid, you will not receive statements of this type any longer.
Beginning November 1, hospital and MultiSpecialty Clinic charges will appear on the same statement, and most services that occur on the same date will also appear on the same statement.
Can I still make a payment online or over the phone?
Viewing your statement or making a payment is easy to do online or over the phone:
- Online Pay bill for services provided before 11/1/2017 - or - Pay bill for services provided after 11/1/2017.
- Phone payments can be made by calling Patient Financial Services at (530) 582-3598.
Will my TFHS statements and accounts look different?
Statements you receive from TFHS beginning November 1, 2017 will have a slightly different general layout and account number because of the new Epic system.
Please note your new account number will be needed to make online and phone payments.
Will provider fees including emergency room physicians, radiologists and anesthesiologists be included on my statement beginning November 1?
No, these services are billed separately by each provider currently and will continue after November 1, 2017. If you have questions or concerns about statements from these providers, please contact them directly to make a payment.
Will I receive separate bills from Tahoe Forest Women’s Center and Tahoe Forest Orthopedics?
If you are seen in these provider offices after November 1, 2017, billing will be included on one statement.
For services by these providers prior to November 1, 2017, payments can be made online or by calling Patient Financial Services at (530) 582-3598.
Will any of these changes affect the status of my HELP Financial Payment Plan?
TFHS will continue to partner with HELP Financial to provide flexible payment plan options to our patients. To add or change an account on the HELP Financial system, please contact HELP Financial directly at: Website: helpfinancial.com Phone: (530) 582-3598
How will I know when a payment on my account is due?
The date will be listed on your new TFHS statement. Please review the first page of your statement carefully as it contains important information about the status of your balance.
Can I still apply for Financial Assistance?
The Financial Assistance programs at TFHS will not be changing. For more information call (530) 582-3598.
