Prevent T2-Diabetes Prevention Program

One out of three adults have prediabetes and 90% of them don’t know it. The Wellness Neighborhood is proud to offer Prevent T2, which has been shown to help at-risk adults cut their risk for developing type 2 diabetes by 58%. The prevent T2 lifestyle change program can help you lose weight, become more physically active, and reduce stress.

Year long program starts Tuesday, February 4th | 11:15am - 12:30pm

Living Well with Chronic Pain and Other Conditions

Join us for 6-weekly classes and learn:

  • How to deal with frustration, fatigue, isolation, and poor sleep.
  • Exercises for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance.
  • Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals.
  • Appropriate use of medications.
  • Anti-inflammatory nutrition.
  • Decision making strategies.
  • How to evaluate new treatment options.
  • Setting goals...and sticking to them.

When: Wednesdays, Feb 5th - Mar 11th| 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Infant & Child CPR

Be prepared for life threatening emergencies. This CPR class is appropriate for caregivers of infants and children. Grandparents, siblings, nannies, babysitters, and anyone else wanting to learn how to help save a life!

When: Friday, February 7th | 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Cost: $25 per person or $30 for a couple; Pre-registration required.

Mindfulness Workshop: Building Emotional Resilience

Resilience-the ability to cope in difficult situations and bounce back from adversity.

This workshop will help you develop skills to better cope with difficult thoughts and emotions by incorporating mindfulness practices in your life.

When: 4-week Monday Series, February 10th-March 2nd | 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Cost: $60 for series or $20 drop in class. Pre-registration is required.

Tahoe Forest Cooking Club

Get out of your cooking rut and come get INSPIRED at our monthly Health Supportive Cooking Club! Each month, our Registered Dietitian Lisa Fligor, MS, RDN, LD will provide a fun and interactive cooking demo. You get to taste test and take home easy, healthy, and delicious recipes!

February Topic: Spice it up! Learn how to flavor foods without salt to improve heart health.

Infant Nutrition

Learn When & How to Introduce Solid Foods to Your Baby

  • Foster a healthy relationship with food, right from the start using a baby-led approach!
  • Learn how to safely and nutritiously start your infant on a path to healthfully eating a wide variety of foods.

For Parents of babies 3 - 8 months old, infant caregivers, and anyone wanting evidence-based information on infant food nutrition.

When: Wednesday, February 12th | 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Learn tools to cope with life's daily challenges from experts in their fields. Whether its stress, insomnia, nutrition, lack of energy, feeling overwhelmed, or general habit change, we have you covered!

When: Thursday, February 13th & 27th | 5:15pm - 6:30pm

Yoga Basics

Students Will Learn:

  • 2 hour workshop for students who are interested in learning more about yoga!
  • Basic Yoga poses and how to execute them safely and comfortably for their body.
  • Attend group exercise yoga classes with a new familiarity for the names and poses frequently used.
  • Yoga in a safe, non-competitive environment with other beginners.

When: Thursday, February 20th | 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Birthing with Confidence

Learn what to expect: during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum; including breastfeeding and newborn behavior. You and your coach will learn options, tools and coping techniques to guide you through your birth journey.

When: Saturday & Sunday, February 29th & March 1st | 9am - 4pm

Boot Camp Express

Kick it up a notch! Come join us for this 4-week results driven, fitness and weight loss program.

  • Designed to help you reach your goals in a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  • Pre and post fitness testing and biometric screening.
  • Two weekly energizing Boot Camp classes led by a personal trainer.
  • Accountability through nutrition and exercise tracking.
  • Support from your coach and fellow Boot Campers.

When: Mondays and Wednesdays, March 2nd-26th | 5:30pm - 6:30pm
