Be Heart Smart

Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the US, and we want to help educate about it. You are invited to an interactive and informative workshop to learn tips and tricks to keep your heart as healthy and strong as possible.

This class is for you if:

  • Have a family history of heart disease
  • Your cholesterol been slowly increasing
  • You experience high blood pressure
  • Confused about what your lab values mean

Join our Cardiac Rehab Dietitian, Lisa Fligor, MS, RDN as we break it all down for you in simple easy to follow terms.

When: Monday, August 7th, 5:00-7:00pm
Cost: $25 (includes additional family member)

The Wise Mind Series-Brain Health Promotion Program

Did you know that your brain starts to change up to 20 years prior to any outward signs of problems? There are some things we cannot change and there are lots of things that we can! Join us every month in lively discussions, guest speakers and fun games, as we explore these modifiable lifestyle changes that can help slow and prevent decline. August topic is all about socialization-learn how volunteering at the Humane Society can benefit everyone!

When: Tuesday, August 15th, 4:00-6:00pm
Cost: Free!

Guided Nature Walk and Meditation

Join us for a guided nature walk in our beautiful backyard! In this free community class we will explore the healing power of nature by mindfully "taking in the forest" through our senses. We will also do a guided meditation on "witnessing" to help reduce stress and promote calmness. Led by Justine Nelson, Certified Integrative Wellness Coach at Martis Creek Wildlife Area (new parking lot).

When: Thursday, August 24th, 5:15-6:30pm
